We were able to shut the water off on Steptoe this morning
and repair the leak without disruption of water service to our customers. The
main is fixed and now we wait for out water samples to be submitted.

The Plumbers are coming on Monday. Aug. 29th
at 9:00 A.M. to work on the main. The water will be turned off on
Steptoe Ave first. If that does not work than we have to shut the whole town
down. Water will be restored that same day.

Effective Monday,
Aug. 22nd Dept. of Health asked the Town to issue a voluntary notice not to
drink the water due to the leaking main pipe on Steptoe Ave. until further
notice.
The water was tested on Friday, Aug. 19th and the results showed no E.coli present.
The town of Oakesdale is working closely with Department of health and local contractors to fix the leak and take care of this issue as soon as possible.
DOH Comments: This utility experienced a water main leak that caused pressure loss. When water lines lose pressure, potentially harmful contaminants can enter the water system. The utility recommends that customers use purchased bottled water until further notice.
